Mobile base station vehicle

A vehicle carrying cellular base-station and antenna equipment that temporarily supplies or adds coverage where permanent equipment is unavailable or overloaded.

During a disaster it can replace a damaged local base station, often using fibre, microwave or satellite for the connection back to the network. Portable base stations and mobile power vehicles are also used where a full-size vehicle cannot enter.

For festivals, concerts, sports and other crowded events, a vehicle or portable station adds temporary capacity. It does not guarantee service for every carrier or every person; radio conditions and the upstream network still matter.
