5G SA / Standalone
5G SA(スタンドアローン) faibu-jī esu-ē
A 5G architecture using a 5G core network rather than relying on a 4G core and 4G control connection as non-standalone 5G does.
5G SA enables the network foundation for functions such as lower latency, network slicing and more flexible capacity. It does not make every compatible phone faster in every location; the phone may use ordinary 5G or 4G when SA conditions are not met.
Carrier support, area, phone model, software, SIM and plan conditions apply. DOCOMO notes that even inside a published SA area, radio conditions can result in communication equivalent to non-SA use.
