Femtocell
フェムトセル femutoseru
A very small indoor cellular base station that uses a compatible broadband connection as its link back to the carrier network.
Unlike a repeater, a femtocell creates a small mobile coverage area, typically around one room, and sends the traffic through the home's broadband line. It needs power, supported internet service and carrier provisioning; calls and data still use the mobile plan.
Availability and supported generations change. DOCOMO says its current femtocell improves LTE coverage and that new production has ended; its 3G femtocell service ended with the FOMA transition while LTE use continues.
