Network

CATV / cable internet

Internet delivered by a cable television operator, using coaxial cable, a fibre-coax hybrid network or fibre, often bundled with television and fixed telephone service.

Technology and speed vary by operator and building. Some modern cable services are fibre-class; older coaxial segments can have different upload and congestion characteristics. Check both download and upload speed, data policies, modem or router, television bundle and telephone-number handling.

A building may already have the cable operator's equipment, simplifying installation, but a room visit or cable outlet work can still be needed. Compare the standalone price with the television-and-phone bundle rather than assuming the bundle is cheaper.
