Payment

Device installment screening

A separate credit assessment for paying for a phone in installments. Passing the mobile-line screening does not guarantee that the device installment will be approved.

A carrier or finance company may check the application details, payment history, other credit and information held by a designated credit information agency. It may approve the line but refuse installments, reduce the available amount, request a deposit, or offer lump-sum purchase instead.

A refusal does not reveal one universal reason and shop staff usually cannot override it. Check that your name, address and date of birth match your ID and existing credit records; if necessary, obtain your own disclosure report from the relevant credit information agency.
